Broken/Rubbish Exhaust

Afternoon folks...

I think I've finally reached breaking point with my current exhaust as it has numerous problems that I've ignored for too long now.

My exhaust is presently this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Mondeo-ST-TDCi-Stainless-Turbo-Back-Direct-Fit-Performance-Exhaust-System-/230751634707?ssPageName=ADME:L:OU:GB:1123

Specifically:

1. It bangs and clatters on bumpy roads
2. It rattles massively against the bumper, especially when reversing and the garage say they can't drop it any lower.
3. It's got something loose inside the back-box that no-one can remove which gives a crazy tinny rattle all the time.

Long story short, I have a car that I'm proud of, and an exhaust that makes me embarassed to fire it up in public.

I'm looking to replace it with a Cobrasport exhaust, but my question is really how much of the exhaust am I going to have to replace?

I think that the system I've got on is a 2.5" system so it should match the Cobrasport, but will the front pipe forward system suffice or am I likely to need to do more?

I've just sent a message to MIJ through eBay (who I bought it from) so hopefully they'll give me an answer on the bore.

To be honest, the Cobrasport seems to get great reviews on here whilst the Puma (that I have) doesn't fare so well so I'm tempted to get the full system.

I'd be annoyed if I got the back end of the system and found it still fouled the exhaust due to the shape of the Puma decat / front pipe.

:D

I remember when I got the car I told myself I'd try to leave it well alone.....

I started small:
Jaguar Flip Key
Osram Nightbreakers & interior LEDs
Flat blade wipers
OE Infra-red mats

Then got bigger:
Intercooler
Silicone hoses
Remap
Cobrasport turbo-back exhaust (was a Puma)
New (clean) inlet manifold
H&R springs & spacers
ASBO brakes

and along the way, a few fixes including:
4 x wheel bearings
New clutch and DMF
New heated windscreen
9 x new tyres
A new EGR
A new (refurbed) set of wheels
6 tins of BG244
and probably about 35 bottles of 2-stroke

Maybe I should have put up a project thread!

Cobrasport now fitted. First impressions are very positive.

The tinny rattle has gone and it no longer vibrates against the bumper when reversing so that's a positive.

It's more prominent at idle and has a much lower rumble than the Puma exhaust but it sounds a lot smoother, more like the exhaust of a larger engine. Open up the taps and it has a nice roar without being too intrusive.

There's definitely a slight drone at cruise, but it's very slight. With the radio and A/C going it's not really noticeable.

Overall very happy.

One this though, I hadn't realised quite how big a 4" tail-pipe is. Makes me feel like a bit of a boy racer!
