Hi all

I have recently purchased a 2003 Black Mondeo St220 after owning a Ford Probe since 1997.(Please stop laughing)

Even after only one week of ownership I have to say that it is a mighty improvement over my previous vehicle.

It has started to make a "Ghost" type noise after about 15-20 mins of driving. The noise is never permanent but comes and goes. It is rather annoying

I have taken it to my local Ford dealer who have told me that it is something to do with the vacuum system and that there are a set of modified hoses available should I wish to have them fitted. At a cost of course.

Has anyone else had or indeed heard of this problem this problem
This noise is driving me nuts

Thanks in advance

I think this may be the same problem I'm having.

At around 2000 rpm I get this strange noise which sounds a bit like a trumpet!
Accelerate or hit the clutch and it dissapears, but its becoming more frequent now and very annoying!

I spoke to a Ford dealer and they said they had a problem with the ST24's and it was an air pipe which collapsed.

A friend of mine also suggested an air pipe.

My car is a 54 plate with 74,000 miles on the clock.
The Ford dealer said it seems to be higher mileage cars which suffer with this.

George, I take it Ford are aware of this problem then?
