Hi everyone

I am new to the group so wanted to say hello and tell you about what i've got

I have recently got an 'X' reg ST200 estate, which use to belong to a previous member of this group. It needs a lot of tlc now and is going to be my on going project car

I owned an ST24 many years ago and when i was given the chance to own this i couldn't resist

Being the ST200 i know a lot of parts are specific for it and i hoping that some of you have come across the issues that will in no doubt come up against

The engine looks and sounds in good condition (149K) but everything else is showing its age.

Rear arches are bad but i have new panels to replace them, other wise body work is good

Front recaros have usual wear and slight tearing

Mechanically it looks like it hasn't been touched in years. Inspecting it, most of the suspension components will need replacing. No surprise for a 20 year old car

It failed the previous MOT on rear shocks and the fronts appear to be very old genuine ones. Cant see any aftermarket replacements for the front springs and shocks so

with that in mind has anyone lowered their ST200? Are there any kits available or can i only replace with genuine parts?

The exhaust system is pretty rusty too and i don't think it will pass another MOT. Is my best option to replace with a full stainless system as i bet it will be close to what genuine parts will be

I will no doubt find more things but these are the major ones for now

Wheel Car Tire Land vehicle Vehicle

Car Automotive parking light Land vehicle Wheel Vehicle

Any help would be very much appreciated as i hope to restore this car back to its former glory

Thanks again

:welcome: to our little corner of the internet :nice:

Wishbones - America, The Mystique and Contour use the same ones.

Shocks and Springs - I went with a 35mm drop using Direnza springs, the front shocks can be found but expensive and the rear SLS (Self Levelling) are even rarer and very very expensive. I used ST24 shocks on the rear. I have no idea what to use as an alternative for the front shocks though.

Exhaust - That will have to be a made to measure jobbie. Not as pricey as you might think. MIJ or your local Powerflow would be a good shout.

Seats - Take them out, save a few quid, and take them to a specialist upholsterer, or find a good second hand set. Mk3 ST220 Fronts can be made to fit with a bit of electrical knowledge.

Thanks Neil

I have found a company online call Dorman products that sells arms for the American market. The part numbers they use are 520-203 + 520-204, when i googled them they look the same.

They fit Mercury Cougars 1999-2002

Has anyone ordered any arms from the US before?
