hello, I'll try not to bore you all.Owned my st220 nearly 3 years.52 plate.Black with red leather, factory sat nav, xenons.Saloon(surely everyone knows by now that side profile of saloon is far and away superior to hatchback-and the aesthetics aren't destroyed by a wiper blade!)Also got a sunroof, why are they so rare,winter/summer I love to have the roof open.Done about 40,000 miles in it, probably half motorway.Spacious feel good cabin that copes with town, windy roads and motorway better than any car I've ever owned.( I started with capri mark 1's 3 litre in the 70's and worked my way through just about everything performance ford since.I've got a Harvey Gibbs modified cossie 4x4 in the garage that quarter miles indecently fast but I prefer to drive the ST220 !)My wife drives XK8 old jag but I still prefer the effortless quiet flexible powerful ST.OK so what is bad about it!Well have had both front door panels off and replaced plastic membranes but water still occasionally drips into the footwells.Like all modern engines it thrives on heavy gas when moving off or it stutters. That's it! So I hope there's a black saloon out there on a 55 plate(before they put the ****** looking silver grill surround and door handles on them)with sunroof and low mileage waiting for me when I need it. Cheers.

I am amazed that my comments on the relative aesthetics of saloon/hatchback and later model modifications and water leaks have had no responses, I was hoping to trigger a commentary, whats happening out there, is there anybody there, hope to see something soon please. Best Wishes and regards to all.

I wouldnt take it personaly dsa, I dont think this forum is visited all that often.
I will hopefully be buying an R reg ST24 hatchback today!!! Have to wait and see. I live on an the Isle of Wight, so when one crops of here, I'm thinking it will save me a lot of time and extra money than if i went to "ENGLAND". I do like the saloon but ya dot see them that often. Also, i have a dog, so I have to be practical as well.

I hope we see some more members on here soon!!!

good luck, st24 in hatch a great looking car.Mondeos mark 1 and mark 2 (L-plate through to Y-plate) definitely were best in hatch shape. Then with the transformation in 2001 the saloon suddenly came out tops. Now with the recent changes from 57-plate if you can find a saloon!!! it again is superior to the hatch. Not sure though that I like the new shape at all really as it is the most un-ford looking one of all the mondeo shapes. Cheers
