CAN ANYONE HELP? I HAVE A 99 ST200 WHICH THIS MORNING FOR THE FIRST TIME MADE A RATHER FUNNY NOISE WHEN STARTING UP. ITS FINE WHILE RUNNING ONLY ON START UP.

COULD THIS BE THE STARTER MOTOR?

yea very common with the v6 its just air getting trapped in a pipe that feeds the engine and the sound is created by the air bouncing of the walls of the pipe.

if you squeeze the pipe whilst its doing it you will see it dissapears.

replacing it wont help it will eventually just come back so unfortunately its just one of those things you have to live with grrr!

My st220 had this ' moosing' . I put a restricter in the hose that goes from the intake pipe to the throttle body. Moosing gone FOREVER! Your set up is slightly different to the 220. The hose from the intake pipe goes to the intake manifold near the idle control valve. VERY IMPORTANT: If you do put something in there to restrict the air flow make sure it is big enough that it won't get sucked into the manifold!
