Hi,

As some of you may have already encountered the standard st220 alloy wheel is prone to blistering after a few years.

This is really letting the car down so I am looking into changing them. However even on eBay these are £600 plus postage!

Does anyone know a good supplier of Ford alloys at good prices or a recommended supplier of an alternative alloy wheel?

Many thanks

Why not get them refurbished but with a painted finish? Thats what I have done, the colour match is very very good as compared to the diamond cut centre caps there is not much difference. I will post photos are some point.

What do you mean Dave, do wheel refurbs not normally have lacquer? Mine has a ton on it, my paint depth gauge reads 500 microns of paint on the wheels (keep in mind the paint on a car is normally 150 microns). To add to that they are baked in an oven, hard as nails - no chips and no scratches

Has anyone had then refurbed and then had lots of clear laquer stuck on top? Paint is paint be it silver or clear!
I got mine refurbed from Wheel Works in Crawley, i was going to get some new centre caps but decided to spray the old ones myself with paint obtained from Wheel Works, best decision i could of made saved myself £60 and the caps match the colour of the wheels to a tee.

p.s i dont work for Wheel Works!.

Alright mate im thinking abut getting my wheels refurb and was advised of the place to get them painted for the reasons you stated stone chips etc! Im undecided weather it will change the look of the wheels on the car would you be able to put a pic of the painted wheels on your car!

Hi Guys,

Thankfully my wheels are not quite ready for refurb. Does anyone know of anybody who's had them chrome paint coated? Wondered what it would look like? Too much? Plenty of manufactures offer some sort of chrome wheels these days....

(If I was restyling the car I'd like style it like the Focus RS500, Mat black etc, smokey look etc...)

Chrome doesn't last too long over here, as soon as you get a stone chip the salt gets under and that's it game over.
There's a company in Blackpool that will send you a refurbed set, you swap them over and return yours for around £260 ish.
